How to Use

How to Apply Ferris WG Herbicide

1. Identify the Weed and Lawn Variety

Confirm that your target weed is listed on the Ferris WG product label and that your turf variety is suitable for treatment.

Ferris WG is suitable for established:

  • Couch
  • Kikuyu
  • Most Buffalo varieties

Do not use on Queensland Blue Couch.

If treating a Buffalo variety that has not previously been treated with Ferris WG, test a small area first and monitor turf response before treating the entire lawn.

2. Measure the Treatment Area

Measure the lawn area in square metres before mixing the product.

For many listed broadleaf weeds, the standard application rate is:

1g Ferris WG per 100m²

Different rates apply to some weeds, including Ryegrass, Winter Grass, False Onion Weed and Bahia Grass.

Always use the specific rate listed for the weed being treated.

3. Calibrate Your Sprayer

Ferris WG should be applied using a properly calibrated knapsack or garden sprayer.

Accurate calibration ensures the correct amount of product is distributed evenly across the treatment area.

4. Mix the Product

Half-fill the spray tank with clean water.

Add the correctly measured amount of Ferris WG while agitating the mixture, then add the required non-ionic surfactant or other label-approved wetting agent.

A surfactant helps the spray spread across and remain in contact with the weed foliage.

Finish filling the tank with water and maintain agitation during application.

5. Apply Evenly

Apply the mixture evenly over actively growing weeds.

Avoid excessive overlapping of sprayed areas, as this can result in over-application.

For best results:

  • Apply to actively growing weeds
  • Avoid treating drought-stressed or damaged turf
  • Avoid mowing for approximately 3–4 days before and after application
  • Do not apply if rain is expected within the period specified on the product label
  • Keep people and pets off the treated lawn until the spray has dried

How Much Area Does Ferris WG Cover?

At the common application rate of 1g per 100m², a 50g pack can treat up to approximately:

5,000m²

Coverage will vary where higher or lower application rates are required for specific weeds.

Does Ferris WG Work on Buffalo Grass?

Ferris WG can be used on most established Buffalo varieties, including lawns such as Sir Walter Buffalo Turf, subject to the current product label and turf-variety directions.

Because herbicide sensitivity can vary between turf varieties, it is recommended to test a small area first if the Buffalo variety has not previously been treated with Ferris WG.

Can Ferris WG Be Used on Couch and Kikuyu?

Yes. Ferris WG is suitable for established Couch and Kikuyu lawns when used according to label directions.

Queensland Blue Couch is excluded and should not be treated with Ferris WG.
